From 1 May 2027, every car and van up to 3,500 kg needs a valid road vignette to use Belgium's motorways, whether you live here or are just passing through. Here is what it costs and how it works.
Who needs one
The vignette applies to every car and van up to 3,500 kg on Belgium's motorways and main roads, across both Flanders and Wallonia. It applies equally to Belgian residents and to foreign drivers passing through or visiting.
Trucks and vehicles over 3,500 kg are not covered. They keep paying under the existing kilometre charge system.
Prices
The price depends on your vehicle's Euro emission standard and on how long you need the vignette. The cleaner your vehicle, the lower the rate.
The vignette goes on sale on 1 March 2027 and becomes mandatory on 1 May 2027. Subject to final approval.

The price depends on your vehicle's Euro emission standard and on the period. A one-day vignette costs 8.10 euro for a zero-emission vehicle, 9 euro from Euro 4 and 11.25 euro for Euro 0 to 3. An annual vignette costs 90, 100 and 125 euro respectively. The in-between periods (10 days, 1 month, 2 months) sit between those. It is a single digital vignette valid throughout Belgium; the rates follow the Flemish amounts.
Yes. The vignette applies to every driver on Belgian motorways, wherever the vehicle is registered.
No. It is fully digital and linked to your licence plate. Roadside cameras read your plate automatically, so there is nothing to display.
